
Apply for BUK Remedial Science Programme 2025/2026
Bayero University Kano (BUK) has opened applications for admission into its One-Year Remedial Science Programme for the 2025/2026 Academic Session. This is for candidates that might not have the required knowledge in science subjects to gain admissions into science-based degree programmes in the university.
A Remedial Science Programme aims to prepare the students properly for University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), to solve their O-level deficiencies, and to help acquire the necessary academic and practical skills for university education.
Objectives of the Remedial Science Programme
The Bayero University Remedial Science Programme is aimed at:
- Help prepare students for A-levels in core science subjects.
- University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) preparation.
- Provide students with relevant practical and academic skills.
- Help students to re-orient themselves with the O-level credits needed for admission into degree courses.
Entry Requirements
Applicants with SSCE O-level results or their equivalents are eligible to apply under the following conditions:
- Candidates who have at least five (5) credits at the O-level in English Language and Mathematics, in combination with relevant science subjects, obtained in not more than two sittings, are eligible.
- Candidates with less than five O-level credits may also apply, but only if they are ready to address these deficiencies before gaining admission into any degree programmes.
To further support students, optional English Language Proficiency and Computer Mastery courses will be offered at affordable additional charges.
Admission Requirements After the Programme
Candidates who successfully put the remedial programme may seek admission into a science-based degree programme at Bayero University if:
- Five (5) O-level credits, including English Language and Mathematics. Attainment of Bayero University’s minimum UTME scores for the chosen course.
- Candidates for remedial programme with no UTME requirements may be recommended for relevant part-time degree programmes under the School of Continuing Education (SCE). However, they will be required to “regularize” their admission with the JAMB.
Available Degree Programmes
Admission through the Remedial Science Programme is strictly into Level 100 based on UTME scores into about forty-five (45) science-based degree programmes in the following colleges and faculties:
- College of Natural and Pharmaceutical Sciences
- College of Health Sciences
- Faculty of Agriculture
- Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
- Faculty of Computing
- Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
- Faculty of Education
- Faculty of engineering School of Continuing Education (SCE).
Nature of the Remedial Science Programme
The programme is domiciled in the College of Natural and Pharmaceutical Sciences and runs for only one academic session. The programme is domiciled at the College of Natural and Pharmaceutical Sciences and lasts for only one academic session and during the programme, students will register and be given comprehensive instruction in:
1. Mathematics (compulsory)
2. Three (3) relevant subjects:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Geography
- Physics
The course contents are carefully remedial of the o-level deficiencies, as well as providing strong a-level foundations.
Optional courses for English Language Proficiency and Computer Mastery can be undertaken to boost students’ academic competence.
Programme Commencement Date
The 2025/2026 Remedial Science Programme will begin in May 2026. On obtaining the required Bayero University 2026 UTME scores, the candidates will be eligible for admission into a degree programme in the 2026/2027 Academic Session, subject to them successfully completing the programme and the University Screening Exercise.
Fees and Charges
Remedial Science Programme approved fees are as follows:
Application Fee: ₦5,000.00 (Five Thousand Naira only) to access and submit online application.
Acceptance Fee: ₦2,000.00 only for admitted candidates, with foreign students paying $10.
Registration Fee: ₦60,000.00 for admitted candidates, while foreign students will be charged $100 as tuition fees.
All payment processes are done through the approved online payment platform.
How to Apply
Candidates interested in the vacancies should apply using the following steps.

- To create an account, select “Sign Up” at the bottom of the page.
- After having created an account, one should sign in, upload a recent passport photograph, and fill in the required information.
- Use a Debit Card or a bank transfer to effect payment on the application via Remita.
- Scroll to the right and click on “Check Payment Status” to verify the payment has been made successfully.
Therefore, applicants are encouraged to complete filling their application forms early to avoid any hassles towards the end.
