The Crest Research and Development Institute (CRADI) wishes to announced the opening of its Local Community Data Collectors Recruitment 2026, providing an opportunity for all Nigerians interested in research, agriculture and grassroots development to participate in a an agricultural assessment in all the Nigerian States and FCT.
This recruitment is part of a large scale research project that is important for enhancing Nigeria’s agricultural ecosystem using dependable data from the grassroots communities. For example, through its Agricultural Transformation Lab (ATL), the institute plans and executes data based project interventions to bridge the agricultural productivity, market and innovation gaps.
The 2026 recruitment helps in comprehensive agricultural infrastructural data wherein the Nationwide Assessment of Productivity, Markets and Innovation Readiness in Nigeria’s Agricultural Ecosystem (ATL), is one of the largest initiatives conducted in the country.
Overview of the Nationwide Agricultural Assessment
The baseline assessment will cover the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including all the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs). Data will be collected at the wards’ level on the basis of capturing local realities.
The key focus of the study include:
- Agricultural production systems and productivity.
- Actors in the market, prices and agricultural value chains.
- Digital readiness and the uptake of innovation in agriculture.
- Agricultural entrepreneurship and agribusiness ecosystem.
- Participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
Data collection will be done in phases starting from wards, LGAs before data goes for aggregation, validation and analysis. The results will guide future ATL programs, government policy and private-sector and development intervention in agriculture.
Role of Local Community Data Collectors
The Selected Data Collectors will operate under Field Supervisors and CRADI’s central Research Team. The primary responsibility for this category of participants is to collect timely, accurate and ethical data from various farmers, traders, processors and other agricultural sector stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Participating in mandatory training and pre field briefings on methodology, ethics and tools.
- Carry out structured interviews and administer surveys in the assigned wards or LGAs.
- Ensuring that all responses are recorded accurately using either approved digital based or pen and paper tools.
- Ensuring informed consent, confidentiality and non bias at all times.
- Submitting verified and complete data within agreed timelines.
- Presenting any field challenges, risks or observations to supervisors.
Expected Deliverables and Performance Standards
All the selected Data Collectors must: Attend all necessary training sessions:
- Carry out all assigned interviews during the allotted time.
- Submit datasets to ensure they are clean, accurate and complete always (daily).
- When necessary, provide brief notes from the field or observations regarding the study context.
- Follow guidelines and deadlines pertaining to reports.
Performance will be assessed based on data quality, timeliness and research ethics.
Eligibility Criteria
CRADI encourages applications for persons with the below-mentioned criteria:
- Previous experience in field data collection, surveys or research in communities.
- Good knowledge of local languages and community structures in their state or LGA.
- Digital literacy skills, including knowledge in the use of mobile data collection tools Communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Availability during the entire data collection process.
